Ryan + Janie│9.19.20 wedding│Montgomery, Ala.

How did you two meet?
Ryan: "Janie and I first met when I interviewed for my current job at First Baptist Montgomery back in May of 2018. I had come to Montgomery from Columbia, South Carolina as an undercover chaperone for a student ministry mission trip. Being a part of this mission trip was part of my interview process. Janie happened to be one of the other chaperones for the mission project as well, so this is how we initially met. I remember meeting Janie for the first time and thinking that if I got the job at First Baptist, she was going to be someone I was going to befriend. I was also thinking that this girl was way out of my league-- if I ever thought about making a move. Thankfully, I eventually had the guts to make that move and so here we are—happily engaged!"

Janie: "I met Ryan at a youth event we were both serving at for our church. He was actually helping out as a potential associate youth pastor and obviously ended up accepting the position-- which I’m so glad he did! I remember meeting him in line to eat dinner and thought he had the cutest smile and personality. I could tell that Ryan was different from any guy I had met before and knew there was something special about him. He definitely caught my eye!"

How and when did Ryan propose?
Janie: "Ryan proposed to me in an outdoor chapel called Pretty Place in Greenville, South Carolina near where he is from. We were in town 'visiting family”.' Ryan had a nice dinner planned and wanted to go see some Mountain View’s beforehand. We drove up to Pretty Place and as we were overlooking the view, he positioned me in front of a cross at the center of the chapel. He then said a lot of sweet things, then got down on one knee and asked me to marry him! I said 'yes!'"

Ryan: "I proposed to Janie on September 27, 2019 at Pretty Place Chapel in the upstate of South Carolina. I lived in the upstate of South Carolina during my college and seminary years as I attended Anderson University. I had taken Janie to this part of South Carolina before, but as we went to the upstate area for a second time, I wanted to take her somewhere neither of us had been to before. The day of September 27 started out as a day of grabbing a cup of coffee, shopping the streets of downtown Greenville, and devouring some ice-cream from my favorite place, Spill The Beans. Once the clock struck 3:30pm on that Friday though I had to begin the process of taking Janie somewhere that was unbeknownst to her. The next hour of our day was spent driving an hour north up through the mountains in the northwest corner of South Carolina, to which we would arrive at Pretty Place Chapel, an outside chapel overlooking South Carolina. We walked through the chapel down the center aisle, and I took Janie’s hands and brought her in front of the cross that lies at the end and in the center of the chapel. This is where I took one knee and asked the biggest question I will ever ask anyone.

What are some things you two enjoy doing together?
Ryan: "We like to travel, go to coffee shops and football games, spend time with our families, and do ministry together."

Janie: "We have lots of coffee dates, We also enjoy kayaking at the lake, being spontaneous, traveling, doing ministry together and spending time with family."

Ryan-- what's one of the things you admire most about Janie?
Ryan: "I admire Janie’s servant's heart. She always serves myself and others with the love of Christ. Janie’s servant's spirit spreads contagious joy and shines a bright light for the Lord."

Janie-- what's one of the things you admire most about Ryan?
Janie: "I admire Ryan’s humility. He sees others as more important than himself and is always willing to serve. Ryan’s humble heart inspires me to never stop learning and growing in the Lord."

What was each yall's favorite part of the wedding day?
Ryan: "My favorite part was the ceremony. Watching Janie come down the aisle reminded me of how much Jesus loves His church, and the calling I have to present the gospel to her each day."

Janie: "My favorite part was experiencing communion together during the ceremony. This special act of worship set a foundation for our marriage as a reminder to love each other because He first loved us."

What's next for you two?
Janie: "Ryan is in the ministry currently as a college and single adult pastor. We are excited about serving together through this ministry at our church! We also want to always have an adventure to look forward to! We both love traveling and are excited about the opportunity to see the world together."

Zach + Anna Leigh│engagement│Birmingham, Ala.

How did you two meet?
Anna Leigh: "We met in 2014 through our mutual friends who were dating at the time. I was a junior, and he was a senior in high school. We met for the first time on Halloween night. I remember seeing him across the room at a party, and thinking he was so handsome. We hung out with our friends the next day, and I was so nervous I barely talked to him. I thought I missed my chance, but when the night was over he asked for my number, and we haven’t stopped talking since. He called me and asked me on a date the next weekend, and I remember being so impressed with how kind and polite he was."

Zach: "We met at a Halloween party my senior year of high school. Anna Leigh and her friend were about to leave the party when they approached me. I remember thinking that Anna Leigh was really cute. The next day my friend invited me over and told me that we would be hanging out with Anna Leigh and her friend. After hanging out that night, I knew I wanted to continue to get to know Anna Leigh, so we exchanged phone numbers and have talked every day since."

How and when did Zach propose?
Anna Leigh: "Zach and I had been dating for a while, so I knew it was coming but I wasn’t completely sure when. He took me on a double date with our friends to a nice restaurant. We had just gotten our puppy, so Zach suggested we go home to let her out after dinner and would meet back up with our friends after. When we got out of the car I started walking to the front door, but he grabbed my hand and started leading me towards our back gate. When he opened the gate, there was a candle lit path leading to a tree filled with string lights and pictures of us from the past five years of dating. He took me over to the tree and got down on one knee. It was so sweet and romantic! When we walked inside, my sister and all of our closest friends were there waiting to celebrate. It couldn’t have been more perfect!"

Zach: "I proposed on February 29, 2020. I texted my friend and his girlfriend to help me out with
getting Anna Leigh distracted. We decided to all go out to a nice dinner. While we were at
dinner, I had Anna Leigh’s sister and a couple of friends come over to our house and set up a
candle walkway and decorate the backyard with old pictures and lights. When we returned
home from dinner, I walked her to the backyard and got down on one knee and asked her to
marry me."

What are some things you two enjoy doing together?
Anna Leigh: "We enjoy going on walks, hiking, and watching new shows together. We also have a Goldendoodle named Stella that we love to spend time playing with."

Zach: "Anna Leigh and I enjoy getting out and being active with our friends. We like to go on road trips and sight see around the southeast. We also enjoy sitting back and watching new TV shows."

Zach-- describe Anna Leigh in three words:

Zach: "Anna Leigh is loving, thoughtful and beautiful."

Anna Leigh- describe Zach in three words:

Anna Leigh: "Zach is patient, selfless and kind."

Wylie + Holly | engagement | Montgomery, Ala.

How did you two meet?

Wylie: "We met in Birmingham through some mutual friends. My roommate at the time was dating one of Holly's best friends, so I first met her when she came over to hang out with us before going out one night. I remember she sat on the couch next to me, and thinking how confident and amazing she was. I had no idea what to say, so what came out was, 'What's up Holly?' I wasn't even sure if she knew my name. We became good friends and had a lot of fun making each other laugh. Eventually I got the courage to ask her out and luckily she said yes. We haven't looked back since."

Holly: "We are both from Montgomery, and with that comes knowing everyone. I knew of him in high school, but we never spent any time together. Wylie went to Auburn, and I went to Alabama, and after graduation we both moved to Birmingham. Luckily, we shared mutual friends (one of my best friends growing up was dating his pledge brother and now roommate in Birmingham), so we started spending a lot of time together. I remember thinking how funny and cute Wylie was, and I actually encouraged one of my college friends to pursue him… thank goodness that didn’t work out! After the Alabama/LSU game that Fall, Wylie asked me on our first date, and the rest is history!"

How did Wylie propose?

Wylie: "I proposed to Holly on May 23rd, 2020. We were down at the beach with a lot of our friends for a long weekend. I had told all her friends it was happening, and they helped me out a lot with the set up and making sure Holly had no idea. I had asked Holly earlier that day if she wanted to take a walk and a drink on the beach before dinner that night. As soon as we got down to the sand, I just remember saying that I didn't want to wait any longer and got down on one knee. She said yes, turned around, and all her friends and family were waiting on the steps for her. It was absolutely perfect."

Holly: "A group of our friends from high school went to the beach for Memorial Day. It was our friend Mary’s birthday that Saturday, so we had big plans to celebrate—including taking pictures on the beach before dinner. Wylie had asked me earlier in the day if I wanted to take a beach walk with him before pictures. I really didn’t think too much of this ask. I took my time getting ready (looking back, my friends were especially interested in what I was wearing…), before he finally got me out of the house to go walk on the beach. As we were walking, Wylie started talking about how much I meant to him, how the pandemic had put a lot of things in perspective about our future together, and how he really didn’t want to wait any more. I’m sure he said other sweet things, but at that point I was too overwhelmed wondering if this was actually happening or not to listen (if you know, you know). It all became more real when I noticed all our friends taking pictures and filming on the boardwalk behind him. To make it that much sweeter, my parents and brother showed up right behind them. We celebrated briefly on the beach, then went to Wylie’s aunt & uncle’s house to have a bigger celebration with both of our families and friends. It was so perfect. As someone who believes they are very hard to surprise, Wylie pulled off the best one yet!"

Holly-- describe Wylie in three words:

Holly: Wylie is loving, intentional and so very funny."

Wylie-- describe Holly in three words:
Wylie: "Holly is selfless, creative and faithful."

What are some things you two enjoy doing together?

Wylie: "We have gotten really into reality TV shows (Big Brother, Bachelor, Bachelorette, etc). We also enjoy going on walks and drinking coffee. Just spending time with Holly and talking about our days is some of the most fun we have."

Holly: "We could be sitting on the couch watching reality TV, cooking dinner, lounging at the lake, dancing at a wedding—pretty much everything is better with Wylie around (with the exception of the Iron Bowl every year—we are a #HouseDivided. Roll Tide). Any time spent with him is such a blessing!"

Evan + Meg | 8.15.20 wedding | Auburn, Ala.

How did you two meet?
Meg: "Evan and I met in September 2013 as new auditors at Ernst and Young in Nashville (very exciting, huh?!). We were both new in the professional world, yet Evan was big man in the office since he had started a whole two weeks before me! I’d like to say he started the flirting via email very quickly, although he may say otherwise. After our good banter via email, we went on to have lunch with two other associates at Broadway Brewhouse. Nothing says romantic like a lunch next to all the honkey tonks! By the following spring, we were best friends. 😊"

Evan: "We met as eager E&Y auditors ready to take over the financial world. Before starting, I creeped Meg’s Facebook and those beautiful blue eyes drew me right in. I made sure to be in the office on a day when I knew she would be in and after a couple of witty emails back-and-forth she obliged to a lunch I planned with fellow new hires. While she was just as pretty in person, it was her banter and intellect that had me leaving lunch with a big smile. I would love to say she had the same impression… fortunately I grew on her 😉."

What are some things you two enjoy doing together?
Meg: "Pre-COVID, we loved going to concerts together! Luckily, life in Nashville affords many opportunities, and the intimate venues are our favorite. Looking back, we can both see how much music was a connection for us throughout our relationship and continues to be a shared interest. Other than concerts, we connect through our love of travel, parks, pizza, movie nights, and slow Saturday mornings on the couch."

How and when did Evan propose?
Meg: "Evan pulled off an extremely sneaky proposal in December 2019. We were long distance at the time between Durham, NC and Nashville, TN. I was wrapping up the fall semester of my MBA and two girlfriends (shoutout Colleen and Mia!) asked me to grab lunch at a casual spot downtown on Friday before leaving for winter break. I was excited to spend time with them before the break and to go to Ninth Street Bakery. I remember telling Mia how excited I was to go to Ninth Street Bakery, mentioning it was a spot Evan and I frequently visited after church on Sundays when he was in town.
Colleen picked me up for lunch that day and Mia met us outside the bakery. I walked in with them thinking I was about to order a deli sandwich and low and behold there was Evan just grinning at a table nearby. I consider myself quite good at guessing surprises and let me tell you, I was SHOCKED. After many head turns between Evan and my girlfriends, Evan proceeded to walk me outside to a nearby town square where we previously had meaningful conversations about our future together. We got engaged at the town square in rainy, 35-degree weather, and it was perfect!"

Evan: "I will leave the details to Meg, but I must say she is difficult to surprise, and I, as a hopeless romantic, had big plans. However, I could not wait any longer and called an audible to my original plan. I knew I wanted to surprise her and knew I wanted to ask her where I first told her my intentions to marry her one day. The rest is as she says, a cold, rainy day under an umbrella, which I may add that I had to ask her to hold as I got down on my knee – just as we dreamt it 😊"

Evan--what's one of the things you admire most about Meg?
Evan: "One of the many things I admire about Meg is the way she loves her friends and family. She is such a fierce and loyal friend to so many, including me. She is ever present in her loved ones’ lives and brings such joy to so many. I am so fortunate to be her best friend – there is no more loyal friend that I would rather have in this journey of life than Meg."

Meg-- what's one of the things you admire most about Evan?
Meg: "One of the things I admire most about Evan is his heart. After meeting him in 2013, I quickly realized my initial impression of a stereotypical frat boy was far from the truth. Evan has such a big heart for the underdog, the mistreated and the oppressed in our world. His tender heart allows him to be deeply emotional and burdened about these issues, something that has been inspiring for me to witness, as well as join him in these convictions. Additionally, I would be remiss if I didn’t mention how his heart allows him to be a forever hopeless romantic….lucky me!!"

What was each yall's favorite part of the wedding day?
Meg: "There are so many to choose from; however, if I have to choose just one, I would have to say our first look. Our relationship has not always been linear, and that moment of seeing him for the first time as my groom and (almost!) husband was such a reminder of God’s faithfulness and redemption throughout our relationship and our lives. I will always cherish the deep love, giddiness, and 'exhale' of that special moment."

Evan: "That anticipatory moment when the doors opened, the organ played and I was waiting to see Meg with her father, walking down the aisle. It is the cinematic scene from weddings – the attendees looking at the bride and then back at the groom. There was something so special in that moment, my heart was beating out of my chest, I was fighting back tears, and then just a big smile as Meg neared me."

What's next for you two?
Evan: "After a long, deep breath after the COVID wedding planning (ha), we will spend a season here in Nashville with all our dear friends before heading to Denver in the Spring of 2021. While we are certainly bittersweet about leaving our community in Nashville, we are quite excited for the adventure together in Denver and exploring a different part of the country as newlyweds."

Jake + Ellen | 8.8.20 wedding | Montgomery, Ala.

How did you two meet?

Ellen: "Jake and I met in Auburn, Alabama senior year of college. We are both from Montgomery, Alabama, but went to different high schools, so we had never met before. I remember the first time meeting Jake. I immediately told my friends that I thought he was so cute, sweet and seemed so genuine-- which really stuck out to me. As we started talking, we found out we had so much in common and loved the same hobbies— which made us both so interested in each other."

Jake: "Ellen and I first met in Auburn when we were out and about one night with a group of friends. One of my good buddies, Tatum Dean, went to high school at Trinity with Ellen. It was very easy to introduce ourselves when we first met. I remember thinking she was very beautiful and so smart when talking to her. She loved the pictures I had on my phone of my dog (Harley) and cat (Yukon) back at home, which sparked great conversation. We shortly found out that we both had so much in common from loving our pets to spending time in the outdoors."

How and when did Jake propose?

Ellen: "Jake proposed on December 14th, 2019. He proposed in the most thoughtful and sweetest way possible. Jake knows how much I love my farm and how it is my absolute happy place. My grandfather passed away about two years ago, and he was one of the most important people in my life. His house is built on our farm, so growing up I went out there all the time. When Jake and I started dating, I would always talk about the memories I made growing up going out there to see him and how much I love it out there. The day he proposed, we had just gotten home from my sister's college graduation, and he told me to stay in my nice clothes because we were going to go out to dinner with his family. When we got in the car to go to 'dinner,' he told me that we needed to stop by my farm so he could give something to my uncle-- which was completely normal because they are like best friends, so I did not think twice about it. We pulled up to my grandfather's house at the farm, and he told me he would be 'right back' and to 'stay in the car.' A couple minutes passed and he came back to the car and tells me to get out and to follow him. I was so confused at this point, but still did not think twice about anything. He walked me to the front of my grandfather's house and started telling me how much he loved me and how he wants to do life together forever. He then got down on one knee and PROPOSED! It was so special and meant the world to me that he proposed at my farm because he knows how happy being there makes me and how big of a place it holds in my heart. He also had my two best friends hiding in the bushes capturing the whole proposal and had an after party with all of our closest friends and family there! He did so amazing, and it is a memory that I will cherish forever!"

Jake-- what's one thing you admire most about Ellen?

Jake: "Shoot, what isn’t there to admire about Ellen? I admire her heart, hard work, and being the love of my life! She is so, so perfect inside and out. She is my very best friend, and there is no way I could do life without her. She works harder than anyone I know and has the biggest heart!"

Ellen-- what's one thing you admire most about Jake?

Ellen: "I admire so many traits that Jake has. The first thing that comes to mind that I admire most about him is how he loves me. He goes above and beyond to make sure I am always taken care of and he makes me feel so safe and secure. He truly is my best friend, and I know he will forever be my rock through the good and bad. I love him with my entire heart and cannot wait to grow old with him by my side. He truly is the love of my entire life!"

What are some things you two enjoy doing together?

Ellen: "Jake and I actually love all the same hobbies which has been so fun for us over the years we have dated! We both love the outdoors, so we are constantly outside. We love to hunt, fish and go to both of our farms together. We love to workout with each other and go on long walks. We also love to go out to eat. We have so much fun going to different restaurants and trying new foods. We are both huge family people, so some of our most special memories together are spending time with both of our families and grandparents."

What was each of y’all’s favorite part of the wedding day?

Ellen: "Honestly, I don’t know if I can even put into words how special our wedding day was. Everything was beyond what I could have ever prayed for. It was so perfect and incredible. One of my favorite memories that I will cherish forever was mine and Jake’s 'first look.' Seeing Jake for the first time was a feeling I will never forget-- I truly was in awe. I was so blessed to have the most amazing bridesmaids by my side, along with my precious family and friends who I adore more than anything in this world. The ceremony and reception were truly a dream come true, and I give all the glory up to the Lord because I know His presence was what made our wedding day one in a million."

Jake: "Oh goodness! The whole day was absolutely awesome, and I wish I could go back with Ellen and relive it! For me, our 'first look' was my favorite part just because of the suspense, anticipation, and how excited I was to see her in her wedding dress. She looked so beyond beautiful and it was such a special moment for us!"

What’s next for you two?

Ellen: "We built our first house in the cutest neighborhood-- Woodland Creek, which is in Pike Road, Ala. We are fully moved in, which is SO exciting and fun for us. We also got a puppy, so our little family is getting all situated and loving every minute of being all together. We are both working in Montgomery, AL and enjoying our jobs very much. We are so blessed to finally be married and start the adventure of doing everyday life together! All the glory goes up to the good Lord for blessing us with more than we deserve."

Evan + Hayley | engagement | Seaside, FL

How did you two meet?

Hayley: "We met on the dating app, Tinder (I know, old school) back in 2014. Evan was visiting his friend (who is also the best man) in Knoxville, while I was living going to law school at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, and we matched! Evan took me out on a lunch date, and after the mutual discovery of each other's love of wine, the rest is history."

What did you both think about one another after meeting?
Hayley: "I thought he was so handsome (those blue eyes though), and once we started talking, I knew he was something special. We had an immediate connection, and I couldn't believe how well we got along. I think we were both surprised by how much we hit it off."

Evan: "Let's see.. fun, beautiful, great smile and great sense of humor."

How did Evan propose?
Hayley: "Evan proposed in December 2019, after we dated nearly five years. Evan played the evening off as a random date night out to Highlands Bar and Grill (a local favorite) - he told me to go get ready upstairs, and he was going to call an Uber. As I came down the stairs, dressed for dinner, our little French Bulldog, Hugo, came racing around the corner with a box with a ring inside, hooked onto his little fastened tie. However, Hugo being Hugo, he immediately realized he was wearing some form of clothing (even a tie counts) and started to ferociously shake the tie and box off, sending the ring flying across the room. Luckily, the ring was recovered unharmed, and the proposal happened (mostly) according to plan. We then got to go to dinner and enjoy an amazing dinner as finances."

What do you two enjoy doing together?
Hayley: "On the weekdays, we typically binge Netflix and HBO shows to decompress from our typically busy days (we currently love Ozark). We also love to hike and spend time with our dogs, Hugo and McLovin. We love to travel, and will take any opportunity to go on an adventure."

Hayley-- describe Evan in 3 words:
Hayley: "Handsome, loving, and funny."

Evan-- describe Hayley in 3 words:
Evan: "Sassy, sexy, and silly."

Kenan + Madeline {engagement} │Prattville, Ala.

How did you two meet?
Kenan: "I met Madeline through Air Force ROTC. My first meaningful conversation with her came during a friendly debate over my likeness to the former Secretary of Defense. Madeline began campaigning my likeness to the SoD, as means for an ROTC morale fundraiser called “Pie-a-POC.” Consequently, it resulted in a pie in my face and hair. Nevertheless, our back and forth banter and laughs, pre-dating and post Pie-a-POC became dear to me. Our friendly conversations truly sparked a lasting fellowship, relationship, and love for one another.

Madeline: "Kenan and I were in Air Force ROTC together at the University of Alabama, but he was a year older than me. I had always noticed him and thought he was so handsome (who doesn’t love blue eyes and long eyelashes?!), and had the kindest, most humble demeanor. It wasn’t until the end of my sophomore year that we connected through mutual friends. There was a ploy by me to throw a pie in his face… that made the beginning a little rocky but – he IS getting a wife out of it!"

How and when did Kenan propose?
Kenan: "I proposed to Madeline on May 2, 2020. We were in the Smoky Mountains, ‘celebrating my graduation/ commissioning into the Air Force.’ The primary purpose of the trip would soon be revealed. With the national park closed (due to Coronavirus), I drove Madeline to a road closure, walked to a scenic spot, presented her a love note, and asked her to marry me."

Madeline: "Kenan proposed on what was supposed to be a graduation trip for him! We traveled to the Smoky Mountains for a vacation with his family, and on the second night, he insisted we go on a date. I was so concerned about leaving his parents and sisters because I wanted him to maximize family time! Anyway, he finally got me out of the house (only after suggesting I wear something kind of cute) and we went to a hole-in-the-mountain type of dive for wings and chips. Then, we drove around for a good view and ate out of the back of the car. He suggested we take a walk to pick wildflowers (I’m so in!) and then handed me a note and popped the question right then and there! I couldn’t say yes before asking, “Did you ask my Dad?!?!”

What are some things you two enjoy doing together?

Kenan: "We enjoy working out, sitting on the front porch, conversing, praying, and sharing quality time."

Madeline: "Kenan and I have both enjoyed picking up each other’s hobbies, whether it’s hiking, exercising, or playing golf (driving the golf cart). But honestly, there’s nothing I enjoy more than a homemade dinner at home and just getting to talk. With so much busyness, taking time to slow down has become my favorite thing."

Kenan-- describe Madeline in three words:

Kenan: "Madeline is devoted, kind-hearted and angelic."

Madeline-- describe Kenan in three words:
Madeline: "Kenan is virtuous, gentle and understanding."

Brooks + Cassie│6.6.20 wedding│Montgomery, Ala.

How did you two meet?

Cassie: "Brooks and I met on a dating app in Dallas, TX. Our first date was at our now favorite Mexican restaurant, Gloria’s. I thought that Brooks was very attractive, but extremely nervous on our first date as he spent the entire evening chatting my ear off. Brooks thought that I had the biggest and brightest smile he had ever seen."

How and when did Brooks propose?

Brooks organized my family to come into town from Alabama so that all of our immediate families would be there when he popped the question. After leading me through a candlelit backyard surrounded by all of our favorite pictures and rose peddled walkway, Brooks got down on one knee and asked me to spend the rest of my life with him. Shortly after Brooks proposed, all of our closest family members came out to surprise me and popped open the champagne to celebrate. We then spent the remainder of the night reflecting back on our favorite memories together and calling our friends and family to share the news. It was a perfect evening."

Brooks-- what's one of the things you admire most about Cassie?

Brooks: "I admire Cassie’s love for others and her unconditional love for me. She is my best friend, and I cannot wait to share the rest of my life with her by my side."

Every single detail was absolutely perfect and more special than we could have every imagined. We are truly so blessed, and cannot thank all of our family members and vendors enough for making our dream wedding come true."

Lillian: "Chad and I met at The University of Alabama, or more specifically, Bryant-Denny Stadium during the 2016 Iron Bowl. When I first saw him, I immediately thought he was the cutest boy in Tuscaloosa, and when I realized he also stood inches taller than me— I had to turn on the charm. After four quarters of bonding over our presidential woes (him leading his fraternity and me still serving the student body), we both knew this was destined to be more than a fabulous friendship."

What are some things y'all like to do together?

Lillian: "We love to try new recipes together, binge-watch Survivor, and host our friends for game nights. We love to go to breweries and discover new spots in our new city. Our friend group is one of our favorite things about Birmingham and keeps us constantly laughing and entertained."

Chad--what's one of the things you admire most about Lillian?

Chad: "I admire the passion and commitment to everything she does. She is so driven and always finishes what she starts. I am incredibly lucky to get to watch her grow and start this new chapter of her life after school where I know she will be just as successful as she has always been."

What was each yall's favorite part of the day?

Chad: "My favorite part of the day was the dinner and toasts during our reception. I’m grateful that both Lillian and I’s friends have bonded and become friends themselves. Getting to spend time with all of our best friends and listening to them tell stories about how we all became close was a special memory I’ll have forever."

Lillian: "The most special part of the day for me was the point in the ceremony when my dad officially 'gave me away' and lifted my veil for Chad. At that moment, the feelings all hit me and I was overwhelmed with joy and love. I’ll never forget the image of my dad kissing me on the cheek, while Chad reached for my hand. The support of the two most important men in my life in that moment represents their role and impact in my every day."

Lillian-- what's one of the things you admire most about Chad?

Lillian: "Chad inspires me every day to be the best version of myself, while always accepting me for exactly who I am. When he has a goal in mind, his drive and commitment is unmatched. Everyday I wake up more proud of him than the day before, and couldn’t be more excited for all the days ahead."

How and when did Chad propose?

Lillian: "Chad proposed to me last June on a weekend when all of our family was in town to help him move into his new apartment. I thought we were headed to a dinner downtown with everyone, but Chad asked if we could make a detour to his new office (he had just started his job!). Of course, I said yes and we made our way to the John Hand building. When we got there, Chad said he wanted to show me the rooftop first, and that’s when I knew this was more than just an office tour. We got up to the top with the beautiful view of Birmingham behind us, and Chad dropped to one knee with my beautiful ring in his hand. With huge smiles and glowing faces, we went over to one of our best friend’s houses where all of our family and closest friends were there to pop champagne and celebrate all night."

What's next for you two?

Lillian: "Chad and I are so thrilled to start our lives together in Birmingham! With our apartment 101 miles from my parent’s home and 99 miles from his, we are fully prepared for all the shared holidays and weekends with our families. Our friends and family are so important to us, and getting to stay in Alabama with all of them is so special. We’re ready to host many game day watch parties, Thanksgiving dinners and competitive game nights!"

Jake + Ellen {engagement │ Pike Road, Ala.}

Ellen-- describe Jake in three words:
Ellen: "Jake is so kind-hearted, trustworthy and respectful."

Patrick + Lindsay {engagement │ Alexander City, Ala.}

How did you two meet?
Lindsay: "We officially met one Friday night at Moe’s BBQ. I walked in with some girlfriends. I heard someone call my name and it was a mutual friend of ours. He said hello and introduced me to Patrick."

Patrick: "When I first saw her walk up to talk to my friend, I knew right then I wanted to know who she was. I don't even remember what I said to her, but I know I was smiling from ear to ear. I couldn't get her off my mind the rest of the night. I couldn't find her the rest of the evening, so I waited till the next morning and messaged her on Facebook letting her know it was a pleasure meeting her, and I wanted to take her on a date. I was so HAPPY she replied and actually said, 'yes!' From there on and from our first date, I fell in love. She is everything I prayed and dreamed for in a woman. God has blessed me with my best friend and lifelong partner."

How and when did Patrick propose?
Lindsay: "September 21, 2019. It was very spontaneous and unplanned. We were at his best friends' house for a football party. He randomly got down on one knee! Everyone knew at that point except me. I was shocked-- but it was perfect!"

What are some things y'all like to do together?
Lindsay: "We love to exercise, cook, watch tv shows, anything to do with being outdoors on a beautiful day (hiking, golf, cooking out, etc), worship, walking our pups, talking/planning and beach trips (I think that’s where we both fell in love).

Patrick-- describe Lindsay in three words.
Patrick: Lindsay is beautiful, selfless and inspiring."

Lindsay-- describe Patrick in three words.
Lindsay: "Patrick is loyal, passionate, strong (mentally and physically)... handsome-- can i add a 4th? :)"

Weston + Anna {wedding :: Montgomery, Ala.}

How did you two meet?

Weston: "Anna and I have really known each other for most of our lives. She was my sister’s best friend since elementary school, and we’d see each other all of the time. I always considered her an extension of our family. I remember one time, when we were in high school, I was out in my front yard with Anna, and my sister, Elisabeth, helping them practice for their powderpuff game. Anna and I ended up colliding when were throwing the football around, and I thought she had a concussion. She was super tough about it though!"

Anna: "I have known Weston for quite some time. I was his sister Elisabeth’s best friend since elementary school. I would go over to their house growing up and went on some of their family beach trips too as 'Elisabeth and Sarah’s friend'-- haha! I always saw Weston as Elisabeth’s big brother and just always thought how crazy talented he was! He was an outstanding athlete who also was very musically talented too. He sang, played the piano by ear and was the lead of our high school plays. I remember growing up and hearing Elisabeth share all the funny 'Weston stories.' Never would have dreamed he would be my husband one day!"

How and when did Weston propose?
Weston: "I proposed at the beach when we were on a trip with her family. One of my sisters kept people away from the dock on the bay, and I told Anna that we were walking to dinner. I proposed on the dock and our families and friends were waiting for us at the beach house when we got back. I think she had no clue until we started walking on the dock and not towards the 'restaurant.'"

Anna: "Weston proposed on July 26, 2019. We were at the beach with my family for the weekend. It was Friday night, our first night at the beach, and we had planned on all going to dinner. The restaurant we had a 'reservation' at was near the beach house, so we ended up walking to dinner. We were on our way to dinner, and Weston wanted to stop by the dock that overlooked the bay. It all came to me, and I could not believe what was happening. Weston handed me a letter he had written and before I knew it he was down on one knee asking me to marry him. It was such a surreal feeling I had never felt before-- truly a dream. The funny part was that Weston’s sweet sister, Sarah, had been hiding in the bushes and had gotten four random young boys on bikes to keep a watch out so people would not walk on the dock. Right after Weston proposed, I remember hearing 'congratulations!!' being yelled from the bushes and it was the four middle school-aged boys! It was hilarious. We enjoyed time on the dock ourselves with the pretty sunset after he proposed. My sister-in-law, MaryBlan, and Sarah took pictures and then we headed back to the beach house. Both of our families had surprised us with a celebration. It was the best night and I wish I could relive it over and over again!!"

Weston-- what's one thing you admire most about Anna?

Weston: "I have always admired Anna’s selflessness, work ethic and loving attitude. She has always made me so happy. Undoubtedly, she has the greatest, most kind heart in the world."

Anna-- what's one thing you admire most about Weston?
Anna: "Weston is the most caring person I know. He has a huge heart for others and he is kind to anyone he meets.  I also love Weston’s passion and determination for what he sets his mind to.  Weston has such a contagious passion for life and that is truly admirable."

What are some things y’all like to do together?
Weston: "We are definitely ok with just hanging out at the house together, but we love movies – at the theater or at the house. We also really enjoy traveling (whenever we get the chance to). One of our favorite places is New Orleans. The last time we were there, we ate at the classic New Orleans restaurants and had the best time. Our favorite time of the year is Christmas and we go to as many cheesy light shows or Christmas plays as we can. We’ll also go on walks or go fishing on weekends."

Anna: "We love traveling and also love eating good food. Dining at a nice restaurant with Weston is one of my favorite things! Weston and I also love any kind of holiday, especially Christmas. From Christmas trees, to light shows, to fires, to Christmas movies and musicals – we love it all! Weston loves the outdoors, so I enjoy tagging along with him when he goes fishing or hunting. He gets so excited when I catch a fish and it makes me so happy!"

What was each of yall's favorite parts of the day?

Anna: "My favorite part of our wedding day was standing face to face with Weston at the altar while we said our vows to one another. I felt such a confidence and peace while saying those words.  Also, being surrounded by our family and friends during that special time was something I will always cherish."

Weston: "My favorite part of our wedding day was the feeling of having married the girl of my dreams and seeing all of our family and friends celebrating with us. The entire day, I was so filled with joy-- it’s hard to decide on just one moment!"

What's next for you two?

"Weston and I are currently living here in Montgomery. He is a football coach at Huntingdon College and I am an Occupational Therapist.  We do not know exactly what the future holds for us, but we are enjoying living in the same city as our families. We trust the Lord will direct our path and we can’t wait to see what He has in store for us!"

Brandon + Darby {engagement :: Pike Road, Ala.}

How did you two meet?
Darby: "Brandon and I were set up through a mutual friend after we followed each other on social media. A great friend from my hometown, who was also in my college sorority, was dating Brandon’s best friend from growing up. She devised this master plan to set us up. I was living in Dallas, TX at the time, and he had just moved back to Auburn. I will never forget where I was when Brandon texted me introducing himself, and asking if he could take me out to dinner the next time I was back home in Auburn. We texted for about a week, and then Brandon finally got the courage to call me-- haha! We talked for hours that night-- pretty sure I did not go to sleep until 2 a.m. From then on, we talked every night until we finally were able to meet in person. Our first date was the SEC championship game in December 2017. Brandon met me, and 30 seconds later met my parents, friends and family friends. I was NERVOUS to say the least. My family/friends are the best, but can definitely be overwhelming-- ha! Brandon was not phased and jumped right in; I loved that. He didn’t mind my yelling at the game and giggled at my mini bottles in my purse. Our first kiss was after an Auburn touchdown during the game that day, and I am pretty sure neither of us meant to do it-- it just came so naturally. War Eagle to that?? The next day, we went to brunch before I had to fly back to Dallas. I will never forget Brandon asking if he could pray over our food. I was in shock-- the man that I had dreamed about and prayed for so long may have been sitting next to me, holding my hand and blessing our food. Turns out, he was, and I thank the Lord every single day for him!"

Brandon: "Well it’s kind of a funny start to a lifelong relationship, but looking back on it I would not change it for the world. I knew of Darby throughout college. We were even at some of the same parties, but it just so happened that our paths never crossed. Fast forward four years after college, my best friend’s wife filled me in on her because they were really close friends back home as well. She gave me her number, and once I got up enough courage to finally reach out and give her a call, it was all fireworks from there. We talked every night until we both physically could not keep our eyes open any longer, haha. I was trying to figure out the best time to ask her on our first date, and it just so happens that she is a die-hard Auburn football fan like myself. Auburn was going to the SEC championship in Atlanta in December of 2017, so I thought that would be the perfect first date for us to go on. I got us tickets and needless to say it was a day that I will always hold dear to my heart until the day that I die. That same day when I got to the stadium to meet her, she failed to mention that I would be meeting her ENTIRE family as well as all of their closest friends. I dove right in and it was so easy because they are some of the best people you will ever meet!"

What are some things y'all like to do together?
Darby: "We love to spend time with our family and friends, cook, travel and exercise. Our family and friends are both so loving and supportive, and we always have the best time making memories with them. We are both foodies and enjoy going to restaurants but also love being in the kitchen trying to recreate Chinese takeout and tacos (Defined Dish is our girl) or baking sweets. Speaking of sweets, we have the biggest sweet tooth collectively as a couple probably EVER. We also have a giant puppy dog, Saint, that we love spending time with. We both have a bucket list of places we want to travel. In fact, the beginning of our relationship sparked by us realizing we both had wanderlust and the desire to travel the world. Exercising is something we often do together as well, whether it’s a walk outside with Saint, a run to Toomer’s Corner or a trip to the gym-- this is how we validate all those sweets :)"

How and when did Brandon propose?
Darby: "We had a beach trip planned for the last weekend of December 2019 to Hollin Graham’s beach house (the girl who set us up!) for her birthday. I was so excited to celebrate Hollin and also because my best friend, Hannah Martin, and her husband were coming too.  Friday night we stayed in and drank wine while playing cards. Saturday it was rainy, so we went to brunch and watched football all day. Patrick had made reservations for Hollin’s birthday dinner that night at Ruth’s Chris (or so I thought), so we started getting ready late that afternoon. I was the first one ready, so I went out into the living room to catch the rest of the LSU game. When I came out, the boys finally decided to get up and get ready. Brandon came out a few minutes later and looked beyond handsome. He sat down beside me and told me how beautiful I looked and asked if I wanted to go outside to watch the sunset. Of course, I agreed and out to the balcony we went. We stood against the railing looking out into the ocean, and Brandon began telling me how crazy he was about me and how devoted he was to taking care of me every single day for the rest of our lives. My heart was racing, and butterflies were swarming inside of me, and I was trying so hard to soak up the moment and take in everything he was saying. Tears welled up in my eyes and the next thing I knew he was down on one knee asking me to be his wife. I was ecstatic!! That moment is truly the happiest moment I have felt on this earth. I squeezed my eyes shut and took a picture in my mind of a moment and a feeling that I will never ever forget."

Brandon: "Darby had her mind made up that she wanted to be engaged before the end of December 2019. She was all over me about making sure I knew that! It was so funny because as the year wound down and all of these holidays kept passing by, you could tell that she would get more and more eager/frustrated that it had not happened yet-- haha! Little did she know that I had the perfect plan in mind so that she would have no idea when to expect it. I bought the ring at the beginning of December and it was absolutely burning a hole in my pocket because I wanted to give it to her so bad. Darby and I went to the beach to Hollin and Patrick Graham’s beach condo along with Hannah and Hayes Martin. We also planned for Darby’s mom and sister to show up as a surprise as soon as the question had been popped to participate in the festivities! It was kind of an overcast day that Saturday, so we went to brunch as a group earlier in the morning and came back to the condo to watch football for the rest of the day. We told Darby that Patrick had a very nice dinner reserved so we could all go out and celebrate Hollin’s birthday which was earlier that week. Little did she know that she would be getting ready for a night that she had been dreaming of since she was a little girl. The girls spent most of the afternoon getting ready for 'the very nice dinner' we had plotted-- haha. As soon as they were done, I went to go get ready myself. I had to keep myself calm because the time kept getting closer to go time and my heart started beating faster and faster. I came out and asked Darby if she would come out on the balcony with me. Hayes had his camera ready to go just as we had planned. The sun started coming out the moment we walked out there, and everything just lined up perfectly. I started speaking from my heart and as soon as I got closer to asking her to marry me, I felt a couple tears entering my eyes. Everything finally set in for me at that point and it was a night I will never forget."

Brandon-- describe Darby in three words:

Brandon: "Wow, I don’t really know if three words could do her justice. She is so many things to me, but if I had to choose it would be caring, loyal and passionate. Darby, in everything that she does, considers me and my feelings. The fact that she takes that into account means the absolute world to me. Her loyalty to me is unmatched. Just knowing that she always has my back no matter what gives me all the strength that I need to do anything  I set my mind to! Darby’s passion towards life in general is something that is very special to me. Seeing that each and every day gives me the drive and energy to go and be the very best that I can be as well. It starts with her job. She is a speech and language pathologist for children, and it takes someone with a special heart to be able to withstand the obstacles that she has to deal with day in and day out. What I think of Darby goes far beyond those three words. She means the absolute world to me, and I would not be where I am today without her and her love! I am forever grateful that God has sent such an angel for me to spend the rest of my life with. I cannot wait to experience so many more seasons of life with her by side every step of the way because without her, none of it would be meaningful. I have been so blessed with so many great family and friends throughout my life, but to have finally found my soulmate I feel like my life is far more complete!"

Darby-- describe Brandon in three words:
Darby: "That is HARD. Brandon is so many things. If I had to choose three, I would say faithful, supportive and hard working. He is faithful first and foremost to God. He puts God at the center of our relationship and has led me closer to God in these past 2.5 years than I have ever been before. Brandon is also faithful to me. The love I feel from him is unlike any other love I have ever felt in my whole life. I know that he is and always will be committed to me, to us and to our family (one day). Brandon is also supportive not only to me, but to everyone in his life. The encouragement that I see him offer emotionally, physically and mentally to me, he also offers to his family and friends and that is inspiring. I don’t know how I made it through 24 years of life without his constant encouragement and words of affirmation. Not a day goes by that I don’t hear how proud he is of me; how much he believes in me; and how much he loves me. Last but not least, Brandon is the hardest working person I have ever met next to my dad. They are so alike in so many ways, and I think that is so special. Brandon spends every day at work committed to bettering people’s quality of life. He was not handed anything, but has earned everything, and I respect that so much. Brandon gives his best to every task that is laid in front of him and works tirelessly to provide for us. Brandon is the best person I have ever known. He is not any few things, he is everything."

Schuyler + Mary Frances {wedding} :: Montgomery, Ala.

How did you two meet?
Mary Frances: "Schuyler and I met at my best friend's little brother's wedding on January 5, 2019. The wedding was in Richmond, VA. You can see our full love story here: https://www.theknot.com/us/mary-frances-morris-and-schuyler-petty-jan-2020/our-story "

Schuyler: "Mary Fran and I met when I was in the wedding of one of my good friends. Mary Fran has been best friend's with his older sister forever from growing up in Montgomery. We just so happened to get seated at the same table that night."

How and when did Schuyler propose?
Mary Frances: "Schuyler proposed on August 30, 2019. The day before, I flew up to Raleigh to help him pack-up a U-haul, and on Friday we made the big drive back to Atlanta together. I knew that a proposal was coming sometime soon-- I just never imagined it would actually happen after such a long, exhausting day! To prove that he caught me off guard: I had wet hair, was wearing an Auburn t-shirt, was on my couch in my apartment eating a frozen pizza and carrot sticks. But this was all perfect because during his proposal, Schuyler also told me that he promised to love me in mundane, ordinariness of life."

Schuyler: "I proposed to Mary Fran on the night of Friday August 30, 2019 on the couch of her apartment while eating gluten-free pizza (I'm not gluten-free btw). This was right after we had moved all of my things from Raleigh, NC to Atlanta, GA to start up a new life of living closer together. We knew we had wanted to get married, and so I packed up my life in Raleigh to be with Mary Fran in Atlanta. Little did she know, that day had more in store than just packing and unpacking a U-haul. I had a big plan for how I wanted to propose. Even when those plans fell through with the craziness that is a day of moving, I knew that what I was asking her was to spend her days in the ordinary of life with me, so why not ask her to do so under ordinary circumstances? Of course she said 'yes', and that has been and forever will be the best 'yes' I will hear this side of Heaven."

Mary Frances— what's one of the things you admire most about Schuyler?
Mary Frances: "Schuyler is the kindest person I know. He never meets a stranger, is generous, and his smile lights up a room. You can certainly see the light of Christ in him everywhere he goes."

What was each yall's favorite part of the day?
Mary Frances: "Definitely seeing him down the aisle! We chose not to see each other before the wedding, and that moment will live forever in my mind. When I saw him, it was like everything and everyone drifted away and it was just us two."

Schuyler: "This may be sappy, but knowing that as I looked into her eyes, I had found the one my heart truly loved and she was mine for the rest of our lives. She chose to be mine. She was truly the most beautiful bride-- and most of that had nothing to do with how beautiful she was in her dress-- and dang did she look good, might I add.”

Schuyler—what's one of the things you admire most about Mary Frances?
Schuyler: "Mary Fran is the most passionate and hard-working person I know. She deeply cares for those that are hurting and/or outcast and will stop at no end to love, serve and fight for them in all circumstances. She truly loves like Jesus did and she teaches me how to live and love like that too. I'm just thankful to be a first-hand witness."

What's next for you two?
Mary Frances: "We are living in Atlanta where I'm a pediatric nurse and Schuyler is a civil engineer. Right now we are getting used to life together in the same city and in the same home and are open-handed to what the Lord has in store for us! Which hopefully includes many date nights on Buford Highway."

Schuyler: "Like Mary Fran said, we are in Atlanta now. We are figuring out what our lives look like together here and what the future might hold, but I thank the Lord everyday for the gift that figuring out this adventure called life together with her is. Maybe you'll catch us scouring the Buford Highway farmer's market for some new ingredients or eating pupusas (the people's dish of El Salvador) at our favorite spot or grabbing a cup of milk tea at Sweet Hut. So yeah, life is pretty great these days."

Blake + Susan {wedding :: Huntsville, Ala.}

How did you two meet?

Susan: “Blake and I met when I was 15 and he was 16. Blake was a year older than me, and he was one of my brother’s good friends from the golf team. He actually spent the night at my house one night because he and my brother had a golf tournament early in the morning. The next day, I remember seeing him and thinking he was so cute! I even texted my best friend about him. Later, I found out he didn’t even see me that night and thought my brother was an only child. My best friend and him had a short stent of dating (I even third wheeled with them to Chick-Fil-A, and we talked the whole time.) —and then they ended up becoming good friends. A few months later, she told him she thought that me and him would be great together, and he texted me and asked me to go on a date— golfing (lol)— and the rest is history!”

Blake: “The first time we met was when we went to Chick-Fil-A in high school and it was Susan, her best friend and me. I remember we just ended up talking the whole time and then a few months later we ended up going on our first date. Since I was a golfer, I figured no better first date than the golf course.”

How and when did Blake propose?

Susan: “Obviously, Blake and I have been dating for a long time, so I was SO ready to get engaged. The Friday before he proposed, my roommate listened to me cry in the shower about it and was so convincing that she knew nothing. Blake gave me a giftcard to the spa at Ross Bridge in Birmingham for Christmas, so my two roommates and I decided to have a girls weekend and go stay there. We had a spa day all Saturday and then went up to our room and got ready for dinner. .I actually fell asleep, and was asleep 10 minutes before he proposed. They talked me into walking down to the nice restaurant at the hotel, and when I got to the stairs I saw Blake waiting! He had decorated the wine cellar of the restaurant with flowers and candles, and he had gotten family heirlooms from my parents (silver, white linen/lace table cloths, etc). He asked me to marry him, and then we ate and met our families afterwards!”

Susan-- what's one thing you admire most about Blake?

Susan: "One of the things I admire most about Blake is his patience with everything. I tend to get stressed out and want to plan everything-- and Blake has always been so patient with me and keeping me level headed."

Blake-- what's one thing you admire most about Susan?

Blake: "One of the things I admire most about Susan is her determination. In everything she does, she fully devotes herself to it and doesn’t do anything halfway."

What are some things you two enjoy doing together?

Susan: "Blake and I really just love to spend time together! We always love going to the movies, going on walks and looking at houses (pretending we have a million dollars and picking out which parts of each house we would add to ours), playing with our dog, cooking, hanging out with family, and going golfing (Blake golfs-- I ride in the golf cart!)"
Blake: "We’re big fans of movies, and we also like to take our dog on walks and let her run around and have fun. We also like to cook together-- which could be described more by Susan cooking and me helping here and there. Plus, I’m a really good stirrer."

What was each of yall's favorite parts of the day?

Blake: "My favorite part of the day was seeing Susan walking down the aisle. To see her do that after all the years of dating and after all of the planning involved, it was such an amazing feeling to finally see her walk down the aisle to me."

Susan: "My favorite part of the day was our first look. It was so nice to get to see him before walking down the aisle to ease my nerves!! Blake always calms me so getting to see him and his reaction with just the two of us was perfect for me."

What's next for you two?

Susan: "We are now living in Chattanooga with our precious pup, Ella! Blake is working for an insurance company called Unum, and I’m on the hunt for a nursing job!"

Matt + Mary Katherine {wedding}

How did you two meet?
Mary Katherine: "Matt and I met through my older brother, Bo, in 2010 at Quixotes. Matt and Bo had recently started a band together, The Bama Gamblers, and I drove from Tuscaloosa to Auburn to watch them play for the first time. I remember immediately thinking he was so cute the first time I saw him. Matt and I became close friends quickly, and once I transferred to Auburn in 2012 we saw each other pretty much everyday. In 2013, we finally stopped trying to convince everyone, including ourselves, that we were just friends and became a couple! A few months later, he bought me our dog, Waylon, and I’ve been in love with him ever since. He’s truly my best friend and my favorite person!"

Matt: "The first time we met was at a bar in Auburn called Quixote’s now referred to as 'Q’s' by the college kids. I was on stage playing with a band that happened to have her brother as the bass player. We didn’t really talk that much to each other that night, but as the band progressed, we started seeing each other more and more often."

How and when did Matt propose?
Matt: "I proposed on September 30, 2018, at Kiesel Park in Auburn, Al (the same place that our incredible engagement pictures were taken). It was the day before our fifth anniversary and it was about 90 degrees but felt like a 110 to me. We walked our normal route with Waylon (our 5 year old puppy) and I was doing my best to keep my cool when we finally made it to a bench on the back trail of the park. After a couple of minutes of fumbling through my words, I hit one knee and vividly remember MK’s hand shaking furiously as I asked her to marry me. The details get a little fuzzy after that but I’m assuming she said yes since we’re getting married in December!"

Mary Katherine: "We got engaged on September 30, 2018-- also known as the hottest day of the entire year (in my opinion.) We love to take our dog, Waylon, out to Kiesel Park on Sundays to let him run off some energy. That Sunday was like any other Sunday, except I did NOT want to go. It was HOT and we had been to the Auburn game the day before. However, Matt was insisting that we go. We walked our normal route, and I thought Matt was acting totally normal-- other than the fact that he was drenched in sweat. We decided to take a break and sit down on a bench. Of course right when we sit down, Waylon darts into the woods, so I had to go after him. When I came back, Matt was awkwardly standing next to the bench and grabbed my hands. He said a bunch of words that I’m 100% sure he had not rehearsed and finally dropped to one knee and asked me to marry him! I was totally caught off guard. We celebrated that night with our favorites-- Chinese food and Kardashians. Hands down best day of my life and easiest decision I’ve ever made!"

Matt-- what's one thing you admire most about Mary Katherine?
Matt: "One of the things that I admire most about MK is her ability to see tasks through to the end. It’s very easy to get distracted by everything else that life brings, but MK has an innate ability start and thoroughly finish a task which sounds simple, but is difficult in practice. She inspires me to work harder in order to follow through on accomplishing whatever task is set."

Mary Katherine-- what's one thing you admire most about Matt?
Mary Katherine: "I admire Matt's kindness. He rarely has anything bad to say about anyone, and he makes everyone feel like his best friend. He is the most loved person I have ever met. He has more friends than I can count, and they all come from all different phases of life."

What was each of yall's favorite parts of the day?

Mary Katherine: "My favorite part of our wedding day was our first look. I am a very Type-A person, and was pretty anxious/nervous the entire morning of the wedding. But, as soon as I saw Matt, I was immediately calm and filled with absolute joy. Plus, getting to watch him cry over how beautiful I looked was pretty special too :)"

Matt: "My favorite part of the day was finally being able to let loose and party with my new wife, new family and friends!"

What are some things you two enjoy doing together?
Mary Katherine: "We really love to do anything and everything together! Our favorite thing to do is probably go see live music. We have been to SO many concerts over the past six years. We also love to do anything with Waylon, so we spend lots of time at the park. Matt won’t ever admit it, but he loves watching reality TV with me so we do that together too."

Matt: "One of our favorite things to do together is take Waylon to the park. That’s where the idea to propose at the park with Waylon there came from. Another one of our favorite things to do is to watch American Idol while eating dinner in the bed."

What's next for you two?

Mary Katherine: "We are continuing our life in Auburn, Alabama!  Since the wedding, I have made partner at my firm and Matt has been promoted to a Manager at work. We are still obsessed with Waylon and that will never change. We plan to stay in Auburn for the foreseeable future, buy a home, and start a family in a few years!"

Ryan + Janie {engagement :: Pike Road, Ala.}

Ryan-- describe Janie in three words:
Ryan: "Janie is Christlike, beautiful and adventurous."

Janie-- describe Ryan in three words:

Janie: "Ryan is godly, servant-hearted, and handsome!"

Stephen + Britton {wedding :: Auburn, Ala.}

How did you two meet?

Britton: "Stephen and I met through the college ministry spring break mission trip our junior year at Auburn. I thought, 'Who is the cute quiet guy?' We didn’t talk much until we returned to campus, and I was trying to sell philanthropy tickets for a dodgeball tournament. He and his friends made a team to compete. Plus, he had a sweet black lab that reeled me in for quality dog time."

Stephen: "Britton and I met on Amplify 2013 (First Baptist Church of Opelika's college spring break mission trip) while we were both juniors in college at Auburn. We were both assigned to the same group to repaint a fire station in the Port St. Joe area during the week. We interacted some during the painting and the rides to and from the fire station. I remember her being very outgoing and bubbly-- and asked a lot of questions. That definitely forced me out of my comfort zone, but I thought it was endearing. After the trip, we reconnected back at school, and the rest is history."

How and when did Stephen propose?

Britton: "Stephen’s proposal was beautifully romantic with (the a little touch of 'us'). About a year prior, we were emailing while Stephen was serving in the Navy. He mentioned taking a trip to Europe—I was in! When planning our trip to Italy, he asked me what was I most excited about? Stephen used my top choice by proposing on our gondola ride. I genuinely had no idea in the moment because I was in such awe of the sights. I wondered why he was fidgeting around, but was too distracted to question. After he asked, 'Do you think you’d be able to live with my quirks forever?' And my joking reply was, 'yah, I don’t know, maybe.' I’m sure glad he still had the courage to ask me to marry him!"

Stephen: "We had planned a trip to Europe in November-December of 2018 while I was between duty stations. On the trip, we were planning on going to Zurich, Switzerland and several places in Italy, including Venice. I thought this would be the perfect place to propose. I carried the ring around hidden in my backpack while we explored the city on November 26th, but I decided to pop the question while we were on a gondola ride-- which is not easy to try and get down on one knee while on!"

Stephen-- what's one thing you admire most about Britton?

Stephen: "I admire how much Britton cares about people and genuinely wants to just love on people and make their day better."

Britton-- what's one thing you admire most about Stephen?

Britton: "Stephen's unwavering integrity and focus. Despite the situation and factors that may arise, he responds in a gentle and calm manner."

What are some things y'all like to do together?

Britton: "We love to hike with each of our dogs, Lexi and Raisin. We also enjoy traveling and already dreaming about future trips."

Stephen: "Hiking, playing with our dogs (Raisin and Lexi), spending time with friends, skiing, traveling, trying out new breweries, going to the lake, and eating pizza just to name a few."
