Schuyler + Mary Frances {wedding} :: Montgomery, Ala.

How did you two meet?
Mary Frances: "Schuyler and I met at my best friend's little brother's wedding on January 5, 2019. The wedding was in Richmond, VA. You can see our full love story here: https://www.theknot.com/us/mary-frances-morris-and-schuyler-petty-jan-2020/our-story "

Schuyler: "Mary Fran and I met when I was in the wedding of one of my good friends. Mary Fran has been best friend's with his older sister forever from growing up in Montgomery. We just so happened to get seated at the same table that night."

How and when did Schuyler propose?
Mary Frances: "Schuyler proposed on August 30, 2019. The day before, I flew up to Raleigh to help him pack-up a U-haul, and on Friday we made the big drive back to Atlanta together. I knew that a proposal was coming sometime soon-- I just never imagined it would actually happen after such a long, exhausting day! To prove that he caught me off guard: I had wet hair, was wearing an Auburn t-shirt, was on my couch in my apartment eating a frozen pizza and carrot sticks. But this was all perfect because during his proposal, Schuyler also told me that he promised to love me in mundane, ordinariness of life."

Schuyler: "I proposed to Mary Fran on the night of Friday August 30, 2019 on the couch of her apartment while eating gluten-free pizza (I'm not gluten-free btw). This was right after we had moved all of my things from Raleigh, NC to Atlanta, GA to start up a new life of living closer together. We knew we had wanted to get married, and so I packed up my life in Raleigh to be with Mary Fran in Atlanta. Little did she know, that day had more in store than just packing and unpacking a U-haul. I had a big plan for how I wanted to propose. Even when those plans fell through with the craziness that is a day of moving, I knew that what I was asking her was to spend her days in the ordinary of life with me, so why not ask her to do so under ordinary circumstances? Of course she said 'yes', and that has been and forever will be the best 'yes' I will hear this side of Heaven."

Mary Frances— what's one of the things you admire most about Schuyler?
Mary Frances: "Schuyler is the kindest person I know. He never meets a stranger, is generous, and his smile lights up a room. You can certainly see the light of Christ in him everywhere he goes."

What was each yall's favorite part of the day?
Mary Frances: "Definitely seeing him down the aisle! We chose not to see each other before the wedding, and that moment will live forever in my mind. When I saw him, it was like everything and everyone drifted away and it was just us two."

Schuyler: "This may be sappy, but knowing that as I looked into her eyes, I had found the one my heart truly loved and she was mine for the rest of our lives. She chose to be mine. She was truly the most beautiful bride-- and most of that had nothing to do with how beautiful she was in her dress-- and dang did she look good, might I add.”

Schuyler—what's one of the things you admire most about Mary Frances?
Schuyler: "Mary Fran is the most passionate and hard-working person I know. She deeply cares for those that are hurting and/or outcast and will stop at no end to love, serve and fight for them in all circumstances. She truly loves like Jesus did and she teaches me how to live and love like that too. I'm just thankful to be a first-hand witness."

What's next for you two?
Mary Frances: "We are living in Atlanta where I'm a pediatric nurse and Schuyler is a civil engineer. Right now we are getting used to life together in the same city and in the same home and are open-handed to what the Lord has in store for us! Which hopefully includes many date nights on Buford Highway."

Schuyler: "Like Mary Fran said, we are in Atlanta now. We are figuring out what our lives look like together here and what the future might hold, but I thank the Lord everyday for the gift that figuring out this adventure called life together with her is. Maybe you'll catch us scouring the Buford Highway farmer's market for some new ingredients or eating pupusas (the people's dish of El Salvador) at our favorite spot or grabbing a cup of milk tea at Sweet Hut. So yeah, life is pretty great these days."
