Sam + Katie [10.2.21 wedding] Selma, Ala.

How did you two meet?
Katie: "We met on an online dating app-Hinge. Neither one of us has any idea who liked the other one first, but I know Sam was the first one to send a message. I sure do wish I'd saved that message now because neither one of us remembers what it said! I definitely knew something was different about Sam, in a very good way. We both had very similar views, loved the Lord and even though we started dating during Covid, we made time and figured out how to watch church together on Sundays."
Sam: "When I met Katie, my first thought was, 'Wow, she's beautiful!' Then, I realized I definitely wanted to spend more time with her. It wasn't long after that I realized I really loved doing life with her."

How and when did Sam propose?
Katie: "I was really, actually, annoyed with Sam the day that he proposed, to be honest! I had the day off of work and had plans to get my nails done and have a 'me' day. Sam called me about 10:00 that morning and asked what I was doing and when I was going to be in Prattville that day. My answer was around 4:00, but that wasn't good enough for him. He then proceeded to call me at least three times while I was trying to get my nails done to make me 'hurry up.' I had a feeling we were about to get engaged, I just didn't think it was going to be that soon after we'd looked at rings. I called my friend Victoria on my way to Prattville and she told me not to get excited. Of course, being on I-65, I got stuck in bumper to bumper traffic and was late getting to Prattville. When I pulled up to Sam's house, I couldn't even get in the door, and he was shoving me into his truck saying that we had an appointment at the RSA Tower in downtown Montgomery-- and we were late! We got up to the Capital City Club, and I knew something was going on because there was a waitress that sprinted by us-- but I kept telling myself not to get my hopes up. I walked over to look at the Biscuit's Stadium, and I heard Sam say my name, when I turned around he was down on one knee!"

Sam: "I had been thinking of places to go and propose. That morning I woke up, and I knew that was the day. I had driven by the RSA tower in the past and thought how cool that would be to see the whole city. I called the Capital City Club and got the okay to do it anytime. I was too excited, and I couldn't wait so I decided that was the day! I called Katie and tried to make her hurry up to get down here. My mom and my best friend Catherine were there which made it really special."

Sam--what's one of the things you admire most about Katie?
Sam: "I admire her determination and willingness to try her best at whatever she does. She's also hilarious."

Katie--what's one of the things you admire most about Sam?
Katie: "Sam has the patience of a saint-- he is very easy going and calm, especially when I'm not. He also loves the Lord and I cannot wait to see him lead our family with Christ driving our relationship."

What was each yall's favorite part of the wedding day?
Katie: "My favorite part of the day was the small amount of time we had together after the ceremony. We didn't have much time together, just the two of us with no one else around, but it was really special just to spend time alone with my new husband, away from everyone else for 10 minutes! I also loved getting to see friends and family that I haven't gotten to see in years! It truly was the most perfect day ever."

Sam: "My favorite part of the day was the first look-- she looked so beautiful, it took my breath away."

What are some things you two enjoy doing together?
Katie: "We love going on hikes, Sam is learning how to golf, movie nights, cooking out together, yard work-- really anything!"

What's next for you two?
Katie: "Starting our life together, building careers, a new business, growing together and eventually... starting a family (but not anytime soon)!"
